Don't believe the backlink hype!
The last time I emailed you was 1 month ago.
I've been a bit preoccupied (sorry).
But, the gap between emails has been somewhat deliberate.
The reason for the drop in comms is due to me not having anything of substance to talk about.
It's not that I have nothing to talk about.
It's just that I didnt feel that I had tremendous value on offer.
So I went a bit quiet.
When I advise clients about content for SEO, I always say: it needs a purpose, don't publish for the sake of it.
So I followed my own advice.
But I followed it for too long.
So here's me ending the SEO advice drought and getting back at it!
I wanted to clarify something about links. You'll no doubt get SEO folks try to justify their monthly retainer by promising some kind of 'linkbuilding' or a set amount of backlinks each month.
I'm here to tell you that's a weak justification.
Also, you don't really need links in the way it's made out to be.
My site, LittleBundles.ae ranks well for all of the products we're offering. "ranks well" = page 1. Some are in the top 3 but most are page 1.
The best part? I've done no active linkbuilding whatsoever.
I've created social media profiles for the business and added the website link to the bio and I put a link from my own site to the business. But that's it.
Hardly the most robust, varied and active link profile.
But the site ranks well, we get orders and all is fine in the world.
You might say that it's due to a lack of competition? Well no, there's a lot of competition and we're not just up against small home-based businesses like ours - we're up against much larger, longer established players with marketing budgets to make your eyes water.
Our on-page SEO is tight (everything from titles to descriptions to internal links) and we've carried on with sharing on social. Heck, we don't even have a blog on there (this is an entirely different issue though).
My point is that when someone tries to justify SEO by focusing primarily on backlinks, they're fooling you. And themselves.
And the reason for this is because everyone's website is a work in progress and frankly, until and unless you fix your on-page SEO woes, backlinks won't make a difference to your life.
I'll bet my bottom dirham on it.
Now if you need a hand figuring out what's wrong on your site and want advice on how to fix it, fill out an audit form on my site: https://www.jaaved.com/website-audit/
I'll come back to you with real, actionable points on how to get going in the right direction.
Don't believe the backlink hype!
