Where's the fun in it?

A simple way to produce productivity.

Boring should be balanced with fun, or something interesting, or whatever fires you up — even if it’s small knick-knacks. This is the oiling to smooth things out.

For example, I hated accounts, and could never consistently record them. But now, I’ve made a very exciting looking receipt for payment confirmations. Over and above receiving the money, I love to create that receipt and sent it over. Now accounts are perfectly recorded.

Similarly, for every part that’s dry and boring, see how to oil it up.

At the very least, make sure the people are aligned with it. An example of that would be zen monks — who have to do basic, monotonous work for 12 years or so. But they are willing and use it to generate meditativeness, so it works for them.

This might seem like a nice to have, but for longevity and ease of ops, it’s a must-have.

So, what are the dry parts in your business to oil up? Feel free to reply with as many as you can think of.
