Where the rubber meets the road
How you already have systems that make things happen
In businesses and organisations, systems are the place where the rubber meets the road. This is where action takes place.
For e.g., giving our salaries is based on some logical system. So is every other activity. If you are a one person company, the very legal defination is a systematic one.
Even if you don't have sophisticated software, or fancy spreadsheets, even if you do everything manually, you do it based on some logic. That is a system, because it's not just one thing. It's a combination of things.
You might have a policy on leaves for your team, but it will not matter unless it's actually applied everytime someone takes a leave isn't it? If you apply it everytime, that's a system!
This means, whatever you do, logically, or intuitively, you are doing it according to some system in your head, at least. Even if you have custom ERP or CRM software, or fancy spreadsheets, they also are made or used only upto what's relevant to your logic and way of working as an organisation isn't it?
The question for you here is - are you conducting your logic systematically or randomly? You always have a choice to make your logic systematic and improve upon it, or leave it loose for people to do it in whatever way they understand.
That's why you should be aware, that you are anyway using one of these systems to do your work. That's how everything happens in your organisation. That's where the rubber meets the road!
