Tools depend on the user
How to use tools effectively to grow your business
Tools are only as good as the user. As business owners, we need to keep this in mind, to avoid getting caught in shiny new tools. If you think a tool will solve your problems, it is usually not true.
The most common example is wanting a tool for delegation & status updates. Yes, coordinating activities is an important thing which we fail at every day. But how many times have you tried to implement some kind of system and felt its limitations?
No tool can inspire people to take responsibility and ownership of their work in a way that tracking tools become unnecessary. This is a classic example for leadership qualities. Here, the game is in instilling ownership in people, not forcing them to use a tool.
On the flip side, if the tools you have in your hands are given to someone more skilled, they will produce better outcomes for sure. For example, if Schumacher drove your car, he will definitely be able to drive it better.
So, it is best to focus on our skills to improve what we can do with what we have. To become more resourceful, we need to just pay more attention to how things actually work. Along the way, we might find or create better & better tools anyway.
Cheers!
