If you spend 2 years and a ton of money implementing the best ERP system only to find out it's not enough — what's the point?
Compare that to simple spreadsheets that can systemize each departments' work.
Make trackers and reports for each critical activity. You can always link them up later.
Simplification is a litmus test you can use to figure out if a system is worth the initial hassle.

There will be a time where you can't avoid a single system across your business. Avoid wasting time before that.
