Systems do more than just give information. They define the flow of information.

A Management Information System is just one specific system. Dashboards are just tools to make the information easy to read and understand.

But why am I getting all technical on you? The reason is to differentiate between a tool or a set of tools and a complete system. Like the saying goes:

More than the Sum of its Parts.

Like that, systems are more valuable than its parts. You tell me, is an ERP or CRM system worth more than actually systemizing your ops to get free from them? They might help get there, but the freedom all these tools put together give you is always far more valuable than them!
