Measure twice cut once
How to create effective dashboards and reports
This is the best way to make reports and dashboards effective for your business. Just be sure of the calculation once, so you can rely on it forever. Test it in different scenarios to see if it holds up.
Can you imagine what would happen if the scoring system was not clear in your favourite sport? Cricket with goals and football with runs!
This may seem like an obvious thing, but we have a tendency to go for as many reports as possible, across as many areas as possible. While it looks like getting more clarity, it always ends in confusion and not getting the basics right. It pays off to start with essentials or summary stats that will give you a sense of what’s happening. You can then go into more detailed ones from there.
This helps to solidify the numbers that will tell you a realistic story of your business. Because you have a few to get right, it will be quicker and easier to do, while ensuring accuracy.
If this helped you, forward it to one business owner you know. That’s how we grow.
