Cross checking
How to ensure integrity of information
This is usually seen with a negative connotation, but cross checking is a simple way to ensure integrity of information.
Whether you need to check with people or systems, it is always a good idea to check the information from different sources. With systems, it is fairly simple — just build in error checks or match against different data sets.
But with people, it usually gets a bit complicated. Some people get disheartened that they're not trusted enough, etc. So, the best way to counter this is to weave it into your culture. If it is a given that everything is double checked, not because you want to point fingers, but to ensure accuracy of information, it will not feel personal.
So, it is best to have multiple channels of information. With time, you will know who gives the right information, who adds some masala, etc. It also shows how people perceive things, while giving you a better picture of what exactly is happening.
All of this puts you firmly in control of your business.
If this helped you, forward it to one business owner you know. That’s how we grow.
