Constant Reviews
How to keep everyone aligned
Constant reviews, complete with a history of discussions held and decisions made, are essential to any system.
We tend to ignore this, especially when systems are set. However, that’s exactly when it starts to degrade. That’s when you think ‘it’s all going well, what is there to discuss?’. Even if you do get into a review with a team member, because someone told you, you don’t know what to do.
Here’s a simple recipe:
Every employee is there based on an agreement about what they are to do here. So, simply re-view it.
Keep a track of what was discussed and decided. Review date in rows, parameters in columns.
Simply go over it each time.
For things like this, the march of time is a perfect fit. Simply set a date each month. Can be 20 to 30 mins. But it will keep things tight.
I’ve done this and slipped. Slipped so subtly that I didn’t notice for a year! But slowly I started noticing the signs of decay. So, regular reviews are essential to keep things aligned, fresh and evolving.
Btw, you can do this with yourself too!
