reporting live from my bedroom
hi everybody!
hi everybody <3 nice to see you all again…
I am not at the Upstairs Neighbors show. unfortunately it is literally not worth all the effort it would take to go.
in Talking to Strangers Malcolm Gladwell writes about how disbelief does not come from simply recognizing something being wrong or incorrect, but instead comes from having enough doubts to push us into the threshold of not believing someone. a similar sequence occurred in my decision to not attend the show.
I think I am known as someone who does what they want to do and I agree with that interpretation of my character. I’ve gone to several shows in the past that were, honestly, a total inconvenience to attend but I willed my way to go nonetheless. this show just had too many obstacles for my liking.
I would have to leave work early.
this is typically not an issue for me, but today is the last day of school before winter break starts for my kids, and I was expecting some gifts from parents.
doors opened at 6PM, show starts at 7PM.
I get off of work at 6:15, usually 6:00 if we’ve cleaned up and the kids all go home on time.
the commute would be about an hour.
if I did leave work early, about 5PM, I would get there in time for doors to open. if I left as soon as I got off from work, the show would already be in progress.
there was no designated parking for the venue, only street parking and all lots nearby are privately owned.
I can deal with literally all of the above, but NO PARKING? so now I gotta be on the prowl for parking in this middle of nowhere spot in historical philipinotwon WHEN IT IS FULLY DARK OUTSIDE AND I’m going alone. absolutely freaking not
also the girls were saying it’s best to uber or lyft to get there — no shade but we are not all from LA. some of us suffer the misfortune of being from San Bernardino County.
So I am at home.
luckily I got a refund for my ticket and hopefully someone else was able to take my spot cuz they sold out suuuuper fast. much love to Maya and Dom and I hope it went really well for their first-ever event :)

but work was cool! it was my coworker’s last day and I got her a card and a giftcard to her favorite coffee place.
the gifts-from-parents-and-maybe-their-children haul is:
candy and a $5 starbucks giftcard (didn’t like the candy, don’t drink starbucks)
candy, a $10 chipotle giftcard, and a $10 starbucks giftcard (actually had all of my favorite candy, don’t drink starbucks, don’t really like chipotle but I will be getting chips and a bottled lemonade asap)
Bath & Body Works Pink Obsessed body spray.
Raising Cane’s three finger combo with coke
Bath & Body Works Perfect in Pink hand sanitizer, pink glittery hand sanitizer holder, vanilla mint lip gloss, and a Keroppi jewelry set.
tonssssss of food and sweets

I love love love love love my kids. so bad.
but that is what I leave you with today… I think these are fun when they’re short and sweet. so there’s the short and the sweet
I hope you're having a good day. take care of yourself, bye-bye! <3
