Touch @ Cinema 123
It’s been a little while! Lots of stuff going on in my personal life right now so I haven’t been around to make a newsletter happen. But this week we’re doing it!
(Also - I won’t send one out for at least the next two weeks due to travel!)
This week I’m seeing Touch at Cinema 123 by Angelika! I’m going to the 7pm showing, which should finish around 9:15! This theater has fixed seating; let me know ahead of time if you’re planning on joining so we can coordinate! :)
Touch is a passionate Icelandic love story following a widower’s journey to find his first love from 50 years prior. In the words of Roger Ebert, Touch “is vast in scope, stretching over decades, languages, continents, and cultures, with themes of memory, aging, loss, and love. But its sensibility is as exquisitely tender as the flutter of a butterfly wing.“ Sounds great to me!
The last film I mentioned in this newsletter (but certainly not the most recent film I’ve seen) was Robot Dreams. I ADORE that film. It was so touching in a way that would be difficult to capture in a perhaps more traditional setting. The wordless (platonic) love expressed by the characters made us cry and filled our hearts. It is very unique and I highly recommend for anyone interested in experimenting with animated arthouse film.
