SUSPIRIA @ Metrograph
We’re back!
I was in Arizona for a while, then in Chicago for Lollapalooza, then had covid, presumably from Lollapalooza. But now we’re back in business and gearing up for weekly movies again!
This Tuesday I’ll be going to the 8:00pm showing of Suspiria at the Metrograph! The movie should finish by 9:45pm. The film is sold out as I just purchased the last three tickets. I have one ticket left so the first person to tell me they would like to join can have it!
Suspiria is a classic occult horror film featuring an American ballet dancer in Germany, ingenious set pieces, and “a spine-tingling theme by Goblin that will haunt you to the grave.” (Yes, the occult film’s music is written by a band named Goblin.)
Now for a brief review of the last film from this series, which I saw over a month ago and barely remember: I loved it. I left the theater in emotional shambles, having cried throughout the film and feeling a burning desire to consume more Icelandic and Scandinavian media. Super touching film exploring dementia and the way post-WW2 intergenerational trauma manifested itself differently across different cultures.
