Robot Dreams @ Film Forum (+ Bonus Content)
This Tuesday I’m seeing Robot Dreams at the Film Forum at 7:50! It should be out by 9:45.
I’m also going to free outdoor screenings of Before Sunrise on Thursday and Before Sunset on Friday! These are two of the three movies in the Before trilogy, and are among my all time favorite films :) ultra romantic and ultra wonderful. Those start at 9pm.
Finally, I’m seeing Barry Lyndon at the Metrograph on Saturday for the 12:30 matinee! It’ll be in 35mm. This is one of Kubrick’s finest, so highly recommend as long as you’re ok with a 3 hour runtime.
For the Barry Lyndon screening, seats are assigned ahead of time so let me know by 5pm tomorrow (Tuesday) if you’re interested in attending so I can bulk purchase tickets!
And now back to our regularly scheduled newsletter contents, abbreviated for time :)
Robot Dreams is “effortlessly heartbreaking and life-affirming” (Slant), a “silent wonder that says everything about love” (New York Times). It’s an animated rendition of the classic anthropomorphic-dog-meets-robot trope. What’s not to love?
Last but not least, I did not send out a letter last week because I was traveling for work :) this means I owe a review of After Hours. I absolutely loved it and felt overly stimulated when I left. Absolutely bonkers, highly recommend.
