Oscar-Nominated Shorts @ IFC, 9:10 2/19
This week I’m going to one of the IFC’s screenings of Oscar-nominated shorts! I’ll be going Wednesday to the 9:10pm showing, which should finish before 11.
(super busy week for me, this is the only slot I could fit a movie, so apologies for the late timing if you were hoping to join this week! if you feel you must demand satisfaction, let me know and I can find us another movie to see that is a better fit for your schedule)
Last year I went to one of the IFC’s Oscar-nominated shorts screenings and I LOVE it. So many of them created such deep emotional responses! I’m very excited to have another go at it this year.
Last week’s screening of Lost Highway was, in a word, unhinged. We were totally unprepared for what we walked in to, and we absolutely loved it. Lynch somehow always manages to be incredibly captivating; it feels impossible to look away from his spectacle. In class Lynch tradition, Lost Highway was one of those films that upon first watch evades clear interpretation but leaves a lingering feeling that there is in fact one that can be derived, should you decide to return to his world.
It was definitely not a movie for everyone, but it was quite the ride and really hit the spot for me. And the soundtrack was to die for.
