Le Samouraï @ Film Forum
This week I'm seeing Le Samouraï at the Film Forum! I'll be going to the 8pm showing. Described as "the epitome of French cool" by Time Out and the closest thing to a perfect movie that John Woo has ever seen, it can be viewed as "the analysis of a schizophrenic by a paranoiac." If you're like me, with background like that the specifics of the plot don't matter.
Last week's viewing of Limbo certainly lived up to expectations. The film featured beautiful cinematography and (spoiler alert) a rare ending fully in rejection of resolution. It felt painful, but certainly a worthwhile pain.
As a head's up, I'll be out of town for a few days to watch the 2024 North American Eclipse, so next week's viewing will be on Wednesday April 10. It will feature one of my favorite films of all time at the Metrograph, so stay tuned for more details soon :)
What an incredible city we live in.
