Army of Shadows @ Film Forum
This week I’m seeing Army of Shadows at the Film Forum! I missed my shot to buy tickets to the 7pm Tuesday showing, so I’ll be going to the 7pm Wednesday showing instead! This of course means y’all have more time to get your tickets ;) The movie should finish around 9:30pm. The Film Forum is first-come-first-serve so I don’t need to reserve a row of seats in the same way I did last time.
Army of Shadows is a 1969 French noir by Melville depicting the French Resistance to German occupation during World War 2. According to the New York Times, it’s “a rare work of art that thrills the senses and the mind .. worthy of that overused superlative MASTERPIECE.” Of course, I was hooked at “2.5 hour French noir by Melville”.
Last week’s viewing of Suspiria was totally unique. A true icon of B-side horror. Unfortunately I haven’t been super into B-side horror since high school so it was something of a miss for me, but nevertheless it was a lot of fun to see it with everyone who could make it!
