VisiData 2.6

Sometime not so long ago, you signed up to receive updates about An Introduction to VisiData. This is the fifth installment.

Howdy, folks! I last emailed this distribution list nearly a year ago. Since then, Saul Pwanson and Anja Kefala have released VisiData v2.1, v2.2, v2.3, v2.4, v2.5, and now (last weekend) v2.6. 🎉

You can click on the links above for more details about each release. Some noteworthy additions include:

• A hierarchical menu system (Ctrl-h) (v2.6)
• A “Memory Sheet" (Alt+Shift+m/open-memos) which captures values generated by z+, plus values manually assigned via Alt+m/memo-cell (v2.3)
• A • {num} selected-rows counter in the statusline (v2.4)
• A ↓↑ sort-order indicator in column headers (v2.1)
• Shift+Arrow, which, when editing a cell, moves the cursor and re-enters edit mode in the adjacent cell (v2.1)

I’ve updated An Introduction to VisiData’s guidance and terminal-displays to reflect v2.6, although not all the new features are noted there. (There’s no discussion, for instance, about the Memory Sheet.)
