Turning toward group practices
Still looking for an intro to Intentional Society? Join me this Sunday, Jan 31st in a small call aimed especially at you, newsletter subscribers. (Is 11am Pacific unworkable for you? Reply to this email and let me know what's better!)
Last weekend, our insiders circle (a.k.a. general session) steered in the direction of convergence on the question, "What shall we do together?" As anyone who's been to an intro session knows, that's a question I didn't want to personally pre-answer for the group: I believe the best direction will come from collective inquiry. This makes for a bit of a squishy and echoing bootstrapping process. I did put out a call originally - but how was it heard? What resonates and bounces back? It's kinda like bat echolocation - each of us voicing our locations and directions, bouncing these off each other to gain greater awareness.
As we checked in to start the meeting, we could sense some shared hunger to add (to our many open questions) some experimentation, some learning-by-doing, some motion and form. As we filled an "I have, I want" matrix of people & concepts, what emerged was an overall vector pointing towards interaction/connection practices. So, that's what we'll do this week! We have a direction to steer - probably a mix of "grow together" and "grow, together" as we iterate towards the right edge(s) to play with.
We've got some more container-building to do, too - which may become an independent thread/workstream soon, I don't know. Governance, goals, criteria, agreements - these things may not be "the" work, but they frame the work, enable and support the work, and need the same kind of awareness and tenderness applied at the meta level.
May this very moment, the rest of your day, and your week bring you reminders of your awareness. May you find comfort in accepting the reality of what is, and freedom in the space of choice that awareness brings.
Cheers,
James
