Intentional Society: Launch the boats!
We've been sitting around a campfire together, on a sandy beach in between civilization and the ocean. We're glad to have new faces sidle up and join the circle each week, but it's getting to be a large group. Many of us are looking out to the water and thinking about what we'd find if we went out with a smaller crew, sailing in the same direction for several weeks.
As this whole metaphor is in our heads, we've decided to conjure up some boats and try some voyages! The goal in forming some crews (to borrow the Microsolidarity sense of the term) is to go deeper in relationship and self-exploration. Making an agreement and commitment with a small group of people brings a continuity of trust and understanding that can hold firmly the space for progressive progress.
We'll be arranging our miniature fleet this Sunday, figuring out voyage length and in which directions we'd most like to sail. Importantly, though, we're also going to keep the campfire burning! New faces are still welcome, and while we'll be spending the majority of time in small groups we do plan to have open "day trip" voyages running alongside the longer expeditions.
Now to grab our hammers and see how the boat-building goes...
Cheers,
James
