This month: A TLDR of what’s in this installment of the newsletter
New project: Barberia from Scarberia!
A movie!
:: Love as a Foreign Language. Love as a Foreign Language is coming out this year, so just wanted to keep that on the radar for you! Both me and J are excited about this, and I think we’ll also be talking at TCAF for Library and Educator Day. I’ll update with what I know!
:: Barberia from Scarbaria. I started writing a little bit of fiction recently for an assignment and got pretty far — it’s about 3,000 words, I think, but that’s only the first part. The whole thing in total should be a little under 6,000 words. Anyways, it features a young woman from Scarborough who gets whisked away to another land and must try and restore Scarborough back to Earth. I’ll link here as soon as it’s done!
:: a movie. So something I did while I was away was to make a small video essay (aka “a movie”) about Toronto! It’s not super long and it’s definitely not complete, but it is done. Since you’re subscribed to this newsletter, I thought it would be fun if you guys got to see what I was up to. It’s called “Thirty-six Views of Toronto” and it’s only six minutes! It’s unlisted, but hopefully you can see it.
It’s meant to reference Thom Andersen’s “Los Angeles Plays Itself,” but is nowhere near as well researched or thought out (that would take an incredible amount of time). But that being said, this was a fun assignment to do and to try out. And it got me to read a lot of things about Toronto, so it feels good to share.
:: drawing board. Here’s a drawing I made this week!

Thank you to @johannamation.bsky.social for the request.
Be sure to check out The Ghostkeeper!
And I think that’s it for now. We’ll see you back in thirty!
