:: late. It was destined to happen, but I thought it would happen much later. This newsletter installment is late!! But have no fear, it’s finally arrived in your inbox, and with some little bonuses as well. So let’s dig right into it!
:: sdcc. Congratulations to the eisner winners! Most especially, congratulations to Heidi MacDonald for her commitment to comics journalism, and comics, period. I’ve been fortunate enough to follow her work for many years, and it’s incredible to see her continue to contribute to this crazy industry. Anyways, the full list of winners can be read here on The Beat.
Heidi MacDonald accepts the award. "At The Beat, diversity is at the core of what we do, not an ideology but a reflection of the world around us."

:: summer reads. Me and Jim Munroe (or rather, Jim Munroe and I) were mentioned by the CBC for their summer reads list!

Zeroed Out is available at bookstores and online, and also as a PDF ebook! Order from here.
:: photos. I was fortunate enough to have new headshots taken, and it was my friend, the incredibly talented Heather Legere, that came to my rescue! She’s managed to make me look like a million bucks, or at least managed to iron out this old dollar bill.

:: overwork. I’m working on [REDACTED], which is keeping my nose to the grindstone. And this comes in addition to working on my other monthly project, namely Dinosaurs from Outer Space, featured in Owl Magazine! This month’s chapter has the space cadets heading out to Melita, Manitoba and checking in on Sunny, the Big Banana!
:: film. The past month has also had me keep a number of films on in the background in order to just keep me engaged enough to stay at the computer. This has resulted in an Andy Sidaris marathon that started with Hard Ticket to Hawaii, which was a pretty fun time. Not as good as Van Damme’s Sudden Death, but in some ways, wayyyy better.
:: drawing board. The overwork continues as I complete the inks on this new <REDACTED> for <REDACTED>, and then after that, continue to write and draw stories for Owl Magazine. There’s also a script for a videogame that I’m working on, my first dating sim! Anyways, more news next month, which according to my calendar, looks like the next two weeks. Ai yi yi.
