inkelinks S02E09
Hello, subscribers. Today will be mostly about the practice of better delivering software, but also, I’ll recommend you some great books that you would like to have in your bookshelf.
Oh, and yeah, last week I made the same typo again (damn you, autocorrect!) and the subject was inklings instead of inkelinks. I promise it will happen again :yey:
Links
- Pull Requests Considered Harmful [2m] & The Snail Pace of Pull Requests [2m]
Yes, two links in a row. They both are part of a mini series where the author compares the cons of Pull Request development workflow against Trunk Based development. And he has a point, although as with anything, no extremes are good. - Trunk Based Development: Five-minute overview [5m]
If he previous articles got you interested, then this one will give you a quick introduction of the Trunk Based Development methodology. And I definitely recommend visiting the rest of the links in the sidebar, it’s enlightening. - What is Continuous Delivery? [5m]
I’ve left the best for the end. Jez Humble not only authored this site, but also the fantastic Continuous Delivery book, co-authored The DevOps Handbook and Accelerate. His site, while a bit outdated, will teach you lots about how to better deliver software to your users. I highly recommend it.
Video of the week
The Problem with Time & Timezones [10m]
Timezones, my nemesis. I hate them so much. And don’t get me started with daylight saving times, for Thor’s sake! Anyway, this video clearly expresses my feelings about timezones.
