Shake Off Winter With Us (+ a Big Announcement)
It’s pushing 80 degrees in Central Indiana today, the flowers are popping, and spring is starting to finally shake off the doldrums and dreariness of winter.
And here at Indy Hackers, we’re hoping to kick off the season with a new event - one we hope can become an annual festival of sorts.
From 5:30pm to 9pm on April 28 at Centerpoint Brewing downtown, we’ll hold our first public board meeting (more later!) and then hold a combination happy hour and community involvement fair.
The idea is that this Spring event can be the opportunity to highlight the groups - the meetups, non-profits and other community organizations - that are the lifeblood of the tech worker ecosystem here in Indiana.
And we want folks to find a way to get involved - by discovering a new meetup, or a new cause, or a new friend.
So come out, and help us shake off winter and welcome spring by raising a glass to new growth, new possibilities, and new friends.
See ya there!

Hack Indy, March 27 - March 29, 2026
Participant registration is closed - and was limited to college students - but there’s still time to show up to support the teams and take in some of the workshops that are part of Indiana’s largest student-led hackathon.
If you see an Indy Hackers Board Member (probably wearing a fabulous t-shirt), say hi!

The IndyHackers job board is free to companies and the community. Our goal is to help as many community members as possible land jobs they love at companies based here in Indiana, growing the community of hackers throughout the state.
If your company is hiring, post your job here.
If you're hunting for a job, the full job board is here or you can follow along in #jobs in our Slack. Or: Just reply to this email with what you're looking for.
One more thing …
One reason we’re having a public board meeting is to demystify the proceedings a bit, just in the interest of radical transparency.
Indy Hackers is a 501(C)3 non-profit, with an all volunteer board. I’m really excited about the momentum we’re building and the plans we’re making for this year.
I can’t wait to share a bit about them in our April event.
The event is also the kick off of a fundraising push for us, one we’re calling the Race to $10k and timed to end by the running of ye olde Indy 500.
We plan to grow Indy Hackers quite a bit this year - geographically and in our community support.
And we want to do this while maintaining our paid Slack instance - a rarity among community organizations like ours.
Some of our current sponsors have encouraged us to think a little bigger (thanks, Rick!), but this still isn’t much in the grand scheme of things.
And, as a 501(C)3, we unlock tax deductions and company matching funds for many folks.
More to come in April, but we’re always happy to chat with companies that want to help us grow and support the tech worker community in the Hoosier state.
And, we’re hoping to have a big chunk of that goal wrapped up even before the event.
Now, excuse me while I go make a giant cardboard thermometer …
Chris Vannoy
Board President
