Kicking things off
taps mic
Oh, hello there. It’s been a while, but welcome back or welcome to Hacks && Happenings - IndyHacker’s fortnightly or so newsletter of, well, hacks … and happenings.

We’re pretty jazzed from seeing so many of you at our kickoff event a few weeks back at Centerpoint Brewing. To be honest, we kind of missed having a buzz of people - more than 100! - in one space and having to almost shout to be heard. It was fabulous reconnecting with friends old and new and Centerpoint were great hosts.
More than anything, the event reinforced something we heard in our member surveys a while back - a lot of us are hungry for in-person events and interaction,
In this week’s newsletter, we’re going to highlight some more immediate in-person events around Central Indiana, but before we get to that, we’re also going to suggest you start planning for the holiday season …
Because we’re bringing the Holiday Social back!
We’re still finalizing dates and locations and details, but stay tuned in Slack as things start to pick up steam, and we hope to see you there or out and about before then - perhaps at one of these …
Next Week: Rally
Speaking of in-person events, the Indiana Convention Center will be buzzing with energy next week when Rally kicks off.
Several IndyHackers members are planning to roll into this annual event, with a board member or two rocking some vintage IndyHackers swag.
Our promo code - GitCheckoutRally - gets you $200 off the ticket price if you’ve been waiting for the last minute to get your ticket.
Additionally, we’re part of a small event at Midwest House to talk nerdy about artificial intelligence in an “Ignite AI Technical Track”.
Aside! Midwest House is free … so if you can’t get the finances together (ask your boss!) to attend Rally, you can still wander into Midwest House for coffee and conversation.
RSVP to let those fine folks know you’re heading their way.
Aside
Speaking of folks wandering around in Indy Hackers gear …
I think we should settle on a way to acknowledge and greet each other when we stumble on each other in the wild at conferences, meetups, what have you.
Fist bumps?

Spider-man pointing?

Subtle head nods?

No, none of that seems right.
I figure the only thing that fits is a hearty high five.

New on the Job Board
The IndyHackers job board is free to companies and the community. Our goal is to help as many community members as possible land jobs they love at companies based here in Indiana, growing the community of hackers throughout the state.
If your company is hiring, post your job here.
If you’re hunting for a job, the full job board is here or you can follow along in #jobs in our Slack.
One last thing
Hi. How are you?
The weather’s been weird here in Indiana over the last few days - feeling more like autumn than August.
Some of us have kids back to school, and apple picking and pumpkin hunting and corn mazes in our near future.
And some of us are probably dreading the impending end of summer and the eventual dawn of a gray winter here in the Midwest.
Seasons come and seasons go, but hang in there.
We like you, and are glad you’re here.
We can’t wait to see what you do next.
Reply and let us know what you’re working on or what you’re excited about right now.
We’re excited to hear from you!
