Closing the tab on 2024

Welcome to 2025. We hope it’s treating you well so far.

Today, we’d like to take a moment to look back and say goodbye to 2024, which turned out to be a key year for us here at Indy Hackers and our merry band of nerds, geeks, dorks, and all around excellent folx.

This has been a big year of revitalizing the community, and so many of you came through with connections, donations, or opinions.

We sent out a survey and y’all spoke loud and clear that you wanted more in-person programming - more chances to get together and catch up after so many years of Zoom meetings and Slack messages (though, we do love our Slack!).

To that end, we threw four events this year:

  • A kickoff in July which blew us away with how many of you showed up

  • A panel at the Rally Innovation Conference in September

  • A panel on Bridging the Business-Technical Divide in October

  • A renewal of our Indy Hackers Holiday Social in December

In the next few weeks, we’ll find out if our community wins at the Mira Awards, but regardless, we’re just getting started.

In the coming year, we plan to continue our focus on in-person programming, building our community, and looking for opportunities to increase the impact of our community on the wider technology ecosystem here in the Hoosier State.

Stay tuned for more on that, and a new community survey in the coming weeks as well.

Meetup. Of. The. Fortnight!

One last thing

Also last year, we fired back up this very newsletter.

Based on several conversations at the Holiday Social, y’all seem to dig it. Thanks!

In a weird week for me - shoveling snow, the kids going back to school, finding out that one of my favorite spots on the planet is shutting down at the end of the month - writing this newsletter every other week or so is a refreshing bit of normalcy.

The world can be crazy, or topsy-turvy, or just keep spinning, but I know every other week I need to sit down and write this newsletter.

And anytime I hear that someone has read it and enjoyed it (or not!), it makes doing that a little bit easier.

I hope this edition comes to you at the end of a great week, and that, like me, you’re starting to settle into the new year.

May your resolutions be easily achievable, and your code easily readable.

Until our next fortnight, hang in there.

I’m rooting for you.
