🏖️ Indie Tsushin: Summer check-in!
We hope you're staying safe this July and playing some cool new games! I know that we have been enjoying our time off diving back into our games library. This is going to be a pretty short update this month since there is no issue. We'll be back in full swing starting next week for our 2023 August issue!
Announcements
Tokyo Game Dungeon on Sunday
We'll be at Tokyo Game Dungeon this Sunday, July 30! If you are in Tokyo, be sure to drop by and see tons of games and demos. You can also stop by the Nice Gear Games booth @ B16 to say hi, pick up some Indie Tsushin postcards, and flip through print copies of the Japanese interview special issues! We'll also be taking turns checking out the other games at the event, and we'll probably livetoot any cool stuff we find, so be sure to follow us on Mastodon! We'll also be at the new Yokohama Game Dungeon on August 27, so look forward to that next month!
Postcards and special interview issues
As mentioned above, we made postcards from the covers of our previous issues. If you can't make it to Japan to pick up physical copies, you can now make your own since I uploaded both PDF and PNG digital postcards to every month's itch page! Print them out, use them as your desktop wallpaper, have fun!
I also uploaded the special interview issues (インタビュー特集) to each issue's itch page. These are cut-down versions of the full issue that only have the Japanese interviews. I made these to reduce printing costs for events, but just in case you wanted to share these issues with your Japanese-speaking friends, here you go!
The postcards and special interview issue files have also been added to the collection bundles, so if you bought those, they should appear on your Downloads page! And speaking of those bundles...

Dog Days of Summer Sale
We're running a sale on the 2023 Winter and Spring Collections, plus the Indiepocalypse Presents: Indie Tsushin special issue! Support independent, ad- and sponsor-free coverage of Japanese indie games and developers! The two collections comprise the first six issues of Indie Tsushin, and the Indiepocalypse issue includes ten games! Proceeds from the sale will go towards paying royalties for the ten developers in the Indiepocalypse issue, printing costs for events, web hosting for the next year, guest writers, and buying games to cover in future issues.
We hit our goal of $200 and then $300 on the first day of the sale, and were totally blown away by all of your support! Thank you so much for sharing and supporting our little zine, it's amazing how far we've come in such a short amount of time!

And now, a word from our sponsors
Just kidding! インディー通信 Indie Tsushin is ad-free, does not (and will never!) run sponsored content, and is mostly made by two people in their spare time. We write the articles, buy the games out of pocket, conduct and translate the interviews, lay out and edit the website and zines, pay for hosting and recording equipment, and so on. We do all this because we are gigantic nerds and hope that more people can play and appreciate Japanese indie games and their developers. We would gladly do it even if we never made a single yen from this.
BUT! If you enjoy the zine, please consider paying for it! Any amount would be more than enough, and would go a long way towards boosting our morale and keeping us going. Not only that, it lets us pay guest writers to appear in the zine! If you can't afford to donate, don't even worry about it! Indie Tsushin will always be available to read for free and will never go behind a paywall. You can help us a ton just by sharing our articles and videos, or rating and reviewing our work on itch.io. We also have a Ko-Fi where you can make a one-time donation or sign up for our ¥300/month tier. Thank you so much for all of your kind support!
That's all for now, but be sure to check the インディー通信 Indie Tsushin blog for the latest articles, subscribe to the RSS feed, and sign up for our monthly e-mail digest so you don't miss anything! See you again soon! 👋
