Welcome to the Inconsequential Art Newsletter!
Hi! My name is Scott Marshall, I am a writer and artist based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and you're reading this because you requested to join my new newsletter, which is called Inconsequential Art. The name is a kind of new catch-all brand that I am using for my various creative projects, which I track at my Behance site (inconsequentialart.work). If you want to follow the projects you can monitor the progress on that site, or you can kick back and wait for updates in this newsletter.
This newsletter is also going to be what I do instead of a Patreon, or a blog, or even most social media. I think I'll do this weekly, but instead of giving myself a deadline which I regularly blow past (ie., every blog I've ever kept), I will just keep this tab open and add to it as each week progresses. So if it ever feels scattered beyond what you would expect from something written by me, perhaps that is why.
The point is, I want to stay in touch with those who genuinely want to be updated on the various things that I do, but I don't want them to have to do it in the shitty cesspools of the internet that Facebook and Twitter have become. I would also like to keep it centralized, and free if at all possible. In fact I would like it to be actually worth your time, maybe even something you consider a profitable use of your time, and I am not above bribing you with exclusive access to some things that I make, or discount codes or what have you.
In fact, you know what? Here's a code right now, just for signing up to the newsletter: take 10% off everything in my online store with the promo code: NEWSLETTER. I will also sometimes have promo codes for my prints at InPrnt, but they don't allow for open-ended dates, so I will announce those to coincide with InPrnt's frequent free-shipping weekends.
Not that this newsletter is meant to be some kind of hard sales vehicle. It's not even a soft-sales vehicle. It's arguably not any kind of vehicle, since it may very well go nowhere. It will more likely be a bunch of weird to-do lists, random ideas, book and film reviews and recommendations, complaints, photos, unexpected name-drops, maybe some music. Maybe even some comedy. I wouldn't want to oversell it. But if you enjoy my social media or my creative projects, it will be a lot like those.
Since this is just a welcome message I will keep it short. Thank you again for signing up. I hope you enjoy it. If you want to suggest something that you want me to write about, or if you want to give any kind of feedback, by all means reply to inconsequentialart@gmail.com. As Kevin Sorbo once wrote to me in an autographed Hercules photo, be strong in a world that's weak!
