Asphalt Meadows / Gold Rush

Stumbled across a new Death Cab for Cutie album, Asphalt Meadows. It's been out for a few months. They've largely stuck to the combination of indie rock sound and thoughtful, sometimes poetic lyrics, that I've always enjoyed.

Pepper is a good place to start if you don't to listen to the album in order.

Take a picture to remember this by
You'll never hold all the details in your mind
Fillin' your head with superfluous facts
Pushin' out what you're never gettin' back

Also going to use this post as an opportunity to plug my favorite my Death Cab song, Gold Rush. It is about losing the places we know to change, and the impact of that loss on our memories.

They’re digging for gold in my neighborhood
For what they say is the greater good
But all I see is a long goodbye
A requiem for a skyline
