Amazon sub-prime
I just ordered the first book of the Masnavi series by Rumi, translated by Jawid Mojaddedi. The delivery estimate is 5-14 days. I'm almost as excited about the prospect of waiting a couple of weeks for the book, as I am about reading it.
Ten years of using Amazon and the dopamine hit of two-day delivery is non-existent. In contrast, a two-week delivery feels quaint and refreshing.
I did order through AbeBooks. Amazon owns the platform, so I couldn't avoid giving them money.
The delivery estimate suggests they don't have anything to do with the shipping process. I'm grateful that they tolerate the audacity of a customer having to wait weeks to get a book. Hopefully, they let this behavior continue unchecked.
