Welcome to Building in Public
Hi,
Thanks for subscribing. I'll keep this short because nobody wants a five-paragraph welcome email.
I'm Ian — I build software products (medical billing, media audit, news intelligence) mostly solo, using an AI-assisted development process I designed from scratch. Before that I spent thirteen years in IT governance and cybersecurity. I'm also neurodivergent, which shapes more of
the methodology than you'd expect.
This newsletter is the same writing that goes on iansharland.com/writing: what I'm building, how I'm building it, and the trade-offs I'm navigating along the way. AI ethics, governance, ADHD and automation, building regulated software without a team. One post at a time, roughly
weekly, no fluff.
If you want to start somewhere, these two are live:
- I Use AI to Build Software and I'm Not Entirely Comfortable With It
- Building Regulated Software With ADHD: Why I Automate Everything
You can reply to any email and it comes straight to me.
Thanks,
Ian
