Welcome to issue 003 of iancul's newsletter

I drew the piece above, “Nature Cycles”, in support of the Count Us In climate change creative call. I was hoping to inspire at least a few people to cycle or walk more, rather than use their cars. Cycling is one of the best ways to enjoy nature.

For the piece below, “I’ve never regretted a ride”, the title pretty much sums it up. I did a few different versions, but in the end I settled on the rough brush treatment as it makes me think of forest trails and the excitement of going up or down a hill.

There are six more pieces on different themes, but I’ll let you discover them yourself.

A few notes on the prints

There are 34 artworks in the shop at the moment. Each is available in two different sizes (A2 or A3, and A3 or A4), and all are museum-quality giclée prints on premium art paper Hahnemühle Photo Rag. This means they look really great in real life, you can see some close-up photos on the shop homepage.

Other news

In case you’ve missed it, I recently wrote about the Firefly “gingko bike” I designed last year. You can read about it on my website. At the moment I’m working on two new bikes, one to be painted very soon, the other for later in the year, so stay tuned.

I’ve also just finished a series of music-inspired lettering for a new story published by WePresent (WeTransfer’s digital magazine). It was a real pleasure to work with them again, after doing the lettering for their Sheila Heti story published last summer — which you can find more about here. The new story is about falling in love, and it should be out in a couple of weeks. I’ll mention it on social media, and let you know once the case study is up on my website.
