Big news, good news, closing shop and other news

iancul newsletter

Dear friends, how are you, hope you’re doing well?

As I mentioned last time (back in June last year, how time flies…), the summer of 2023 brought some big personal changes. My wife and I had a little girl, which has made our lives feel ten thousand times happier, and our nights ten times shorter.

After some time off, very much enjoying my new role as a father (and also doing my best not to feel overwhelmed from time to time), I got busy again, working on several design and illustration projects, some mentioned below.

I didn’t take time off from drawing every day in my pocket sketchbook, though. I’ve posted a few sketchbook videos on my Instagram page, and there are more coming up soon. If you’re not doing it already, give it a follow here: @ianculdraws.

Secret 7“ charity exhibition & auction

Gallery exhibition with hundreds of record covers on display

It’s a pleasure to be a part of the Secret 7″ charity exhibition and auction again. This year it’s presented by War Child, who provide vital support to children affected by conflict.

My cover can be seen in the photo above, but I can't tell you which one it is. It's a secret, after all. But I'll give you some hints, it uses lots of white space and it's on one of the lower rows :)

The auction ends on Sunday, March 17, and you can bid on many great covers created by leading artists and designers. More details on the Secret7 website.

Fix The News logo & identity

Fix The News (FTN) is the news platform dedicated to celebrating stories of progress. Previously known as Future Crunch, FTN has been spreading good news for over eight years. I had the pleasure of designing the new logo and identity. You can find out more about the project in my case study.

I AM Patterns illustrations & interview

“I AM Patterns” is one of the leading French sewing patterns companies. I drew several flower-filled visuals for their new autumn-winter collection launch. I also had the pleasure of being interviewed for the I AM Patterns blog. You can find the link to the interview and read more about the project here on my website.

Closing shop discount

I’ll be closing my shop for a while at the end of March, so if you want to order a print or some postcards, make sure to order now. You can use the SPRING2024 code to get 20% off everything in the shop (the code works once per customer).

Available for projects & referral fee

🤙🤝💰

As I’ve just finished a project recently, I’m available again. If you need help with any design or illustration work, drop me a line (just reply to this email).

Or if you know anyone who could use my help, please introduce us. I’m offering a 10% referral fee (out of a project’s value) for any successful introduction.

That’s all for now, thanks very much for reading and have a wonderful spring!
