Hello Hyperlocal World

Issue #0 – The Beginning

Welcome to the very first edition of our weekly, free newsletter focused entirely on the practical use of privacy-friendly, self-hosted language models. If you want to run AI under your own control — no cloud dependency, no data leakage, no black boxes — you’re in the right place.

Why We’re Launching This

AI is everywhere. ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini — brilliant at times, uncanny at others. But they come with trade-offs: your data leaves your hands, your conversations are filtered, and your intelligence is rented, not owned.

We think there’s a better path. The hyperlocal path. Your model. Your hardware. Your rules. No intermediaries. No hidden policies. No one watching over your shoulder.

Two Paths Into the AI Future

1. The Cloud Route

Fast and polished — until it isn’t. Your medical notes, legal drafts, financial data: uploaded, processed, and stored somewhere you’ll never see. Bound by terms of service you didn’t write. Subject to filters you can’t disable. And one billing error away from disappearing.

2. The HyperLocal Route

The alternative: own your intelligence instead of renting it. A physical device in your office. Your models, your data, your policies. It’s the PC revolution all over again — but this time for intelligence. No cloud. No leaks. No censorship. No kill switch.

Why This Matters Now

Privacy Isn’t Optional Anymore

Big Tech cannot guarantee that your data stays where you want it. Cross-border access, legal requests, cloud-side logs — all out of your control. If you’re a lawyer, doctor, agency, finance team, or anyone handling sensitive information, cloud AI is increasingly a liability.

Guardrails Are Not Neutral

Corporate AI carries corporate values. You inherit OpenAI’s refusals, Google’s filters, Anthropic’s deflections. Self-hosting means: your context, your perspective, no invisible rules.

Open Source Has Caught Up

Llama-4-class reasoning, Qwen models running on consumer hardware, open weights, rapid optimization — the moat is gone. Modern open-source models now rival GPT-5-level performance in many tasks, and you can run them locally.

What This Newsletter Delivers

Every week, you’ll receive a curated, technical roundup of the most important developments in local, privacy-first AI:

  • new models & important releases
  • advances in local deployment
  • security considerations
  • licensing changes & governance issues
  • key open-source initiatives

Always with a practical angle: How does this help teams and decision-makers who want AI they truly control?

Plus: A Continuously Updated Model Overview

We maintain a freely accessible, continuously updated catalog of major open-source models — including:

  • technical requirements
  • benchmark results (MT-Bench, MMLU, etc.)
  • strengths and weaknesses
  • typical use cases — from chatbots to RAG, coding, and edge deployment

Our goal: to bring clarity to a fragmented, fast-moving field — without hype, with real technical value.

Thanks for being here. Welcome to the future of hyperlocal intelligence.
