Hello, friends of hyperlink.academy —
Big news: the new Hyperlink app is now in beta and you can try it today!
Hyperlink is a platform for creative work and learning — like a virtual campus or studio where you can make spaces to do meaningful things with small groups of friends and collaborators.
You may know us from a couple years back when we hosted some great independent courses and learning clubs. The what has evolved, but the why remains the same — to empower personal, peer-driven, creative learning on the internet.
Spaces, on Hyperlink, are containers for social activity, which we use for things like side projects and small learning groups. Each Space combines a set of tools for notes, brainstorming, group chat, lists, scheduling, and more.
The idea is to have a flexible set of building blocks we can use for many types of creative collaboration. And in particular, to go beyond static docs or ephemeral chat, making space for ambitious async work that might extend over weeks or months.
See our new landing page for a glimpse of what it looks like — click the glowing buttons for short video previews!
Within a Space you can use rooms and cards to represent and organize the things you're working with, and discussions to talk about them in context.
We've been in alpha for a while, testing the app in a mix of contexts. Now, with a solid foundation in place, we're ready for you to give it a spin!
So far we're finding it useful for personal projects, team workspaces, and other experiments. See for example one of our own "weekspaces", Hyperlink 2023 W10, and Celine's Stuffy Stuff Space for a WIP stuffed animal design project.
We're opening signups so that you can invite friends to join — while it's possible to use by yourself, Hyperlink is meant as a social tool! We suggest inviting a friend to a Space to make or explore something together over a week or two. Even if the project is just "explore Hyperlink" or "brainstorm future project ideas" :)
Keep in mind:
We're working on a way to create other "studios" for groups / communities to have a place to organize and talk about many Spaces together.
If that sounds interesting and you run a group, team, or similar, we'd love to talk :)
