This Headline
This combination headline/bullet point list takes you on a journey. Right away, I started with being certain of what a Celta Vigo is (a soccer team it looks like? I’m always curious about the decision-making process for Americans who decide on an international soccer league being a thing to passionately follow, like how they land on a team to support). Then came the usual “think of others not yourself” phase of hearing that someone is not only not staying indoors, but traveling abroad. Pretty normal so far. Then comes…err, gestures broadly at everything followed by some, in a vacuum at least, pretty incriminating searches about the age of consent in various places as well as Mr. Smolov’s age (30, to save you the keypresses). I know, age is just a number, but 25 to life are two numbers and I don’t even know what one of them is. At any rate I hope the dinner at what I assume will be whatever Russia’s version of Cheesecake Factory is is an enjoyable evening for all.
Watch This: THE INVITATION - available on Netflix
This is a movie that benefits from going in blind, so I’d avoid reading up or watching anything from the film if you haven’t already. Just know that the plot is Will (Logan Marshall-Green) and his girlfriend Kira (Emayatzy Corinealdi) are making their way to a dinner party hosted by Will’s ex-wife Eden (Tammy Blanchard) at the home they used to share before. It may surprise you to know that things do not go well. Everything else about the plot you should find out through watching the film, but it’s a very good thriller, worth a whatever the digital equivalent of a spin is. Worth the bytes maybe.
It brings me no great pleasure to inform you that, after news broke that British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is still having a tough time with the coronavirus, that the memers got to him:
This is a handy and current guide to every company whose workers are currently either striking or working under protest due to unfair treatment during the current crisis. From increased access to protective equipment to protecting the health and safety of part-time/contract workers, if it’s possible to do so, avoid frequenting these places and services until they better serve their employees.
In addition to making everyone disrespectfully horny, this time indoors is now prompting adults to encroach on the kids’ territory of saying the darnedest things, mostly by posing the absolute stupidest questions I’ve seen in awhile
No, literally no one else thinks this, and the only reason you can ask this is because we entertained boomers seriously when they got butthurt that people were dismissing them right before they carried Joe Biden’s desiccated husk through the primary season, in what I have to assume is some sort of retaliation measure. Back the original question, all those videos of people calling cops because they thought they spotted a poor who didn’t belong there is the class prejudice you’re looking for but do your thing Karen.
This short thread of the Burroughs Wellcome building, an old pharmaceutical company HQ in North Carolina, is an appetizer for a longer article about the history and architecture of the building, which looks like some kind of space pyramid. Out of use for a few years now, some of the complex is being refurbished for posterity, while other, less significant sections, have been torn down to make the property more manageable.
Finally, two items from the Department of Uhhhhhhh. First:
Two brothers who went to school with my kids are making these and selling them for $20. They’re then taking the money and buying snacks for area hospital break rooms. I added the lights. For those who are unfamiliar, Erick Erickson is one of those ham-headed Never Trump Republicans I mentioned the other night, and I have…some thoughts on why he felt that some lights were necessary AND ALSO why he chose that particular vantage point for the promo shot.
And second:
Maybe keep those in the personal stash, offer up the t-shirt-derived ones to neighbors. Unless he meant to post this to Next Door, not Nextdoor, in which case you could probably get a pretty decent return on those. Also I hope they were just looking for a reason to refresh their panty inventory, and not hoarding them in the hopes of stumbling into some utility for them in the distant future.
