A Newsletter of Humorous Writing
For May 28-June 3, 2020
Hello and welcome to A Newsletter of Humorous Writing. This week we'd like to encourage all of you to support anti-racism, resist police brutality, and work to reform policing and fight for racial justice in your communities. We've got a few links below for ways you can help.
- If you have money to donate, ActBlue has a great site here where you can donate to a bunch of bail funds, mutual aid funds, and racial justice organizers at the same time.
- You should also use your dollars to support black-owned businesses in your community. Since we're all book nerds here, this list of black-owned bookstores in the US is a great place to start. This list of restaurants in NYC is great too.
- This is a neat Twitter thread organized by writer Grace Li that's compiling resources for Black writers/creatives. Share it around, and if you have a skill you can offer, add yourself to the thread!
- The progressive Brooklyn Democratic organization New Kings Democrats has been organizing phone and email drives to advocate for police reform in NYC and are a great group to get involved with.
- This database of resources and links is nicely organized and easy to navigate and has a ton of actionable information.
If you have any other links or resources you think deserve attention, please send them our way!
And now, because we could use some laughs, the humor pieces. This week we're gonna let them speak for themselves.
