p1: Autumn and Summer are sitting in their living room, Autumn in a chair while Summer looks frustrated on the couch. A: So… Jeanie kindly helped you get a job interview, and in return you snubbed her heartfelt call for friendship and pushed her down in the mud. Summer: The mud-pushing was strictly on emotional grounds, but yeah that’s about right. I thought she was just doing me a good turn… I should have realized she was trying to connect p2: Autumn looks assured while Summer becomes thoughtful. A: Well, given your earnest self-flagellation I’m gonna say - not a jerk. But! You gotta take her to lunch or something. S: Actually, this did get me thinking… maybe the three of us could try going out some time. Get some drinks, see a show p3: Autumn reacts with surprise; Summer rolls slightly on the couch to face them. A: Wait, like, us as in we? But… I still need to cure all my personality flaws. What if I say something bleak and off-putting? S: Autumn, you’re not gonna get *more* sane by making yourself stay in all the time. Besides, I’m pretty sure Jeanie’s used to you saying bleak stuff by now. p4: Autumn leans forward contemplatively while Summer smiles. A: That’s true… and I have had some nice conversations with them, it’s just… a friend… from work? Is that even possible? S: A philosophical debate that has lasted through the ages, but I think you’ll be able to figure it out — Nothing Doing no. 51
