rain. i don’t know that i’ve ever paid so much attention to rain, and, when i have, certainly not with gratitude. my first thoughts used to go to my hair but now it goes to my garden. i’m so excited for them to receive an abundance love.
bees. as a lifelong allergy survivor, i’ve been conditioned to fear pollen. i’ve recently put that word into context of pollination and the need for bees. my garden is a sanctuary for me and for the bees. i watch them buzzing around my lavender and roses, in choreography with the butterflies.
my hands. i love fingernails filled with dirt. gripping shovels. loosening soil and sowing seeds.
the soles of my feet. i love the way they ache from long hours of standing that i didn’t realize i’d endured.
time. learning that there is such a thing as “garden time.” there’s a time to sow, there’s a time to grow, and a time to harvest. but my favorite time currently, is that time in between for tending. mornings and evenings spent inspecting leaves and soil, sometimes pruning, checking the worms, watering, and quietly listening to the wind.
