Scrollbars are becoming a problem

https://artemis.sh/2023/10/12/scrollbars.html

Summary: Scrollbars are getting smaller, causing difficulties for users with fine motor control problems or using eye-trackers. This trend of shrinking scrollbars and hiding them away affects various software and platforms. While some solutions exist to modify scrollbar widths, they often require technical knowledge or are buried deep in settings. Minimaps, which provide a larger hit target and content visibility, are considered a better alternative for users facing difficulties with small scrollbars.

First word discovered in unopened Herculaneum scroll by CS student

https://scrollprize.org/firstletters

Summary: A 21-year-old computer science student, Luke Farritor, has discovered the first word in an unopened Herculaneum scroll as part of the Vesuvius Challenge. The ancient scrolls were buried and carbonized by the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD. Farritor was awarded a $40,000 First Letters Prize for his breakthrough. Another contestant, Youssef Nader, independently discovered the same word, winning the second place prize of $10,000. The discoveries have increased optimism that the $700,000 Grand Prize is within reach.
