Fourever You: We’re heading into the last couple episodes and I’m a little concerned about how they’re going to fit what I remember from the trailer into the last episode. I do love the information we’ve gotten about Johan—every single one of the older guys in this show is a pathetic simp and that’s the best. The very brief bit of Typhoon and Tonfah from episode 15 had me once again wanting to shake the screen until Part 2 comes out because what is happening there, seriously. I know I could look it up, but I want to go in unspoiled!
Perfect 10 Liners: I want to put Yotha under a microscope. What a weird little guy! I love him dearly, and I love Gun—I think their relationship is working better than ArcArm for me because, in part, I see what they bring to each other’s lives and they are both visibly so much happier around each other. I have the feeling this will be my favorite arc of the show, even though everything we’ve seen so far of Faifa and Wine has been very charming.
Your Sky: It’s all happening! One thing Domundi does really well is chemistry, and filming in a way that makes the chemistry between their actors really apparent. I guess what it might be is that they’re good at filming desire, which they go to put on display this week now that Fah and Teerak have started dating for real. But we also got to see it with Real and Save as well as Punlee and Ghlaijai. That latter scene had me just like, when are Por and Teetee going to get their own show? Their vibe together is so good. Also, I think Punlee got all the rizz in their family.
ThamePo: Every week, this show manages to have Thame do something so bananas romantic that I’m like HELLO??? He stayed up all night on a nine and a half hour phone call to learn Po’s favorite song? I’m devastated.
I’ve talked on other shows before about how I feel like some shows are very clearly written As Television, in that each episode has a really distinct arc. ThamePo is a perfect example of that so far, with each of the first 4 episodes establishing a character and their relationship to Thame. I’m preemptively holding my chest at the prospect of the Nano-focused one next week. That’s my baby!
I’ve said a lot about how impressed I am by William’s acting, but honestly in general all of LYKN have been doing so much better than I’d expect, especially for rookie actors. They clearly gave them a lot of training, but I think they also got lucky—although since they’re idols, they’re already used to performing in front of a camera, so at least that part already was there.
Ossan’s Love Thailand: What a way to start the week. I’m never going to be able to watch this show alone because the secondhand embarrassment might kill me, but I’m already liking the changes they made from the original even if I’m like they killed off the wife??? (It does make more sense for how they want to refocus the story based on the trailer but it did make me laugh.)
Totally did not notice that FirstKhao and Dimples Fluke are set to cameo—looking forward to see how they show up and all three of them getting to be over-the-top cartoonish and zany like the rest of the cast. I really did not get very far in the Japanese show, but it seems like they’re balancing the zaniness with a little more quiet and genuine moments, which is a massive improvement for me. I don’t think GMMTV has made a BL with this kind of tone since Fish Upon the Sky!
Boy Next World: Oh, I’m glad to have Noeul and Boss back on my screen. They really just gel so well together. There are a lot of characters in this show—big contrast to Love Sea—but I actually felt like we were introduced to them in the world in a pretty natural way. Noeul playing someone extremely innocent and baby is very funny given his personality, but he’s very cute, so he sells it. I’m so curious where this show is going, since the trailer made it clear it’s probably more complicated than it appears.
4 Minutes: I was asked how much more of Bas’s entire ass we’ll be seeing and I had to be like, I think we’re done with him but not with…other stuff…
This show makes some production decisions I think are odd but for the most part it’s been really interesting to rewatch with my knowledge of how the story plays out and see some of the things they’re doing in terms of camerawork.
Absolute Zero: This was going to be my before bed show before I realized that it was going to probably be too sad. I did pick it up solely for Tonliew and Bever, but the main actors are charming, especially Mix Wanut who I think I’ve only seen in comedic roles. It’s also maybe Director New’s most visually beautiful show.
The Secret of Us: I watched the first episode a while back and picked it up again. Earn is such a crazy person—deliberately sending herself into anaphylactic shock to get her ex’s attention is DERANGED. I love it. I am like, why doesn’t Earn just tell Fahlada the truth about their breakup, it isn’t like Fahlada’s mom can give Earn’s mom cancer again, but maybe she has her reasons.
Battle of the Writers: This show wasn’t good, but it had some really fun things, and they were trying stuff! Also, it genuinely looked stunning, especially in the danmei-universe scenes. Really mixed bag! Tutor and Yim are always great together—I don’t know how many actors could have sold their y/n choose your own adventure roleplay scene but it actually worked for me in that I believed their characters were into it. I can’t believe, though, that the couple that captured my attention the most was the c couple with like. An hour of screentime.
Love in the Air Koi: I’m so attached to the original that the remake was never going to clear it, but I think it someone went in without having seen the Thai version, they’d probably have a good time. They did a slightly better job blending the two stories so that it doesn’t feel like two separate shows in one, which had its pluses and minuses—to me, the biggest fault was that Rei couldn’t be with Fuma when he went to rescue Kai. I was also deeply uncomfortable with just how much more of Kai’s assault we see, but if I’m honest I was somewhat expecting that.
The special episodes cracked me up, especially the reveal at the end—a very funny way to do it and also a very funny way to include Prapai and Phayu. Overall, I thought it was fine, but it did just make me want to watch the original. Both couples were cute, but boy, the chemistry of LITA is just top notch.
I don’t have any news for the moment! I’m looking forward to the new Pond Ponlawit trailer this week, but aside from that it’s easing into 2025. Still catching up on shows from 2024 though…Caged Again and Pluto, for example. I want to say there’s too much content, but that’s a luxury to complain about!
