The Hilltop Docket, by email — tracking the Texas Business Court
Welcome to The Hilltop Docket’s email edition.
The Hilltop Docket is a research publication of the SMU Corporate Governance Initiative, tracking the Texas Business Court — its opinions, dockets, hearings, and developing doctrine. Since May, we have published twelve dated, human-reviewed issues on the web, covering the court’s newest decisions as they land: https://smucgi.org/hilltop-docket/
This email list is how those treatments will reach your inbox going forward. What to expect:
Dated issues covering new Texas Business Court opinions, with links to the court’s own signed PDFs — every claim traced to the primary source
Docket developments worth a practitioner’s attention, drawn from the court’s public records
Corrections made visibly when the underlying record changes
The court the Docket covers is busy: 117 written opinions since October 2024, a full ten-judge bench reappointed to new terms beginning September 1, 2026, and five divisions operating in Texas’s major business markets. The record is public, and our job is to keep it readable.
The full research stack is open to everyone: the Live Monitor — every published opinion, parity-checked against the court’s register; the Codex — the corpus searchable by doctrine; and the research hub — the statutory architecture underneath it all.
