Trail reports
Volcano Peak - completed by Ali Sekera
First peak of the year! A difficult snowshoe up steep, non-grippy faceted snow, involving a fair amount of bushwacking. That finally ended in a warm summit plateau with amazing views on a bluebird day!
Length: 13 km
Elevation Gain: 1055 m
Duration: 6.5 hours

Monarch Ramparts - completed by Matthew Clay
The views since we’d entered the meadows had been absolutely stunning, and this of course continued on the summit. We spent about 45 minutes wandering around taking photos and admiring the spectacular scenery, then retraced our steps all the way back to the parking lot. A fantastic way to spend the first day of 2018!
Distance: 20.5 km
Elevation Gain: 900 m

Heather Ridge - completed by Matthew Clay
We’ve visited this area in the summer, fall, and now winter and each time we’ve been amazed by the scenery.
Length: 22.5 km
Elevation Gain: 1060 m
The second report from Matthew we are featuring this week! He is off to a great start in the New Year: http://mattclay.zenfolio.com/heather_ridge
Watridge Lake - completed by Alexandra
When all is said and done, it is a vision like this that I hope to see. This kind of view is what motivates me to be "out & about" and what keeps me coming back for more. Sometimes in life these loves don't come easily but I try to forget the effort that goes into getting to my love and just be thankful that I am with fun friends sharing our passion in life.
Length: 13.3 km
Elevation Gain: 253 m
Duration: 6.5 hours

Ranger Hill - completed by Matthew Clay
It certainly wasn’t an exciting hike – how can it be when you need to hunt for the summit!? – but it did get us outside and that’s always better than staying indoors!
Distance: 11 km
Elevation Gain: 415 m
The last trail report for this week and it is again from Matthew Clay. Another great report with some lovely photos: http://mattclay.zenfolio.com/ranger_hill
