The Future of Things

Hello! Chances are if you’re reading this, you’ve viewed some content I’ve made over the last year or so. You might have wondered where some things I was doing went. That’s okay, because this post is exactly what that is to explain!
Wait, you do what now?
Well, I make commentary, basically. Mostly about video games, but sometimes about film, TV, even comic books. I like to think of myself as a pop culture connoisseur. Yeah, that’s about arrogant enough.
So, what does that actually mean?
It means I do a lot of things, really:
* I make a video game commentary show called “Hidden Levels” and upload ‘Playthroughs’ in which I commentate on a game while playing it on my YouTube channel.
* Also in the gaming realm, I’m one part of 3 Good Sirs, a gaming talk show hosted on Twitch.
* I began writing for The Young Folks, an entertainment site filled with news, reviews, and editorials on pop culture. Again, most of my focus is on video games, but I have written and contributed to other fields.
* I guested on a few episodes of Bombad Radio, a Star Wars and fandom podcast, starting with this episode.
* They liked me, so I now co-host a spin off show called Essential Bombad, where myself and show host Jeremiah talk about the miscellaneous goings on in fandom.
* I am also working on getting submissions for more written content.
Wow, way too much. What actually matters?
I’m a huge fan of my suggestions for Nintendo Switch games, mostly because I already got one right.
I also did a look back on Castlevania that I felt was strong.
This is my favorite Hidden Levels episode.
That YouTube channel looks pretty bare.
Yeah…It’s been a busy few months. Mostly because I really was excited to finally get to write and review and jumped head first. I don’t regret that at all, but some of my other content has suffered.
Guessing that’s what this is all about?
Indeed! If you like anything from above, here’s when you can expect more:
*Hidden Levels will resume within the next week. Episodes will return to a weekly format, however will they will not be set to a recurring day. This will allow me to take extra time if needed. These will first be uploaded to Twitch, followed by YouTube 2–3 days later.
*Playthroughs will resume on Fridays, and will be uploaded to Twitch and YouTube simultaneously.
*Two weekly streams will start, likely with the new year. The first each week will be just a casual stream. The second will be a weekly charity stream. Any tips (more on that later) collected during that stream will be donated to an organization to be announced prior to the stream. The first will be Planned Parenthood.
*Essential Bombad airs bi-weekly, on Friday/Saturday. There is also a chance of being on Bombad Radio episodes, which are weekly. You should listen to those even if I’m not on it.
*You can expect at least 1–2 pieces from me on The Young Folks. Any other writings will be announced as I can, and there will likely be a rogue post or two right here.
Wait, Twitch?
Twitch has begun allowing users to upload pre-recorded video. The feature is in beta right now, but this is the best time to try to create breakthrough on the platform. Anything is better than trying to rely only on YouTube and getting lucky.
Also, all streams will be uploaded to YouTube afterwords, if you miss out.
Anything else to declare?
Yes. See, in addition to creating content, I also work at a full-time job (adorably referred to as ‘Real Job’) to pay the bills and eat food. However, life is also daunting, and costs can pile up, eating more of my creating time. To help offset this, I will be creating a tip jar. This tip jar will allow anyone who chooses to send a few cents my way via PayPal. The tip jar will be used to collect during charity streams as well. I will have a way to make sure tax receipts are received when necessary. By no means should anyone feel obligated to donate, but it does help keep my fingers working.
Sounds swell! How can I help?
How nice of you to ask, hypothetical person! There are a few ways you can really help:
*Share. If you like literally anything I’ve ever produced, the best thing to do is to share it within your own social circles. Word of mouth is the best kind of advertising anyone could ever get.
*Give me feedback. Never be afraid to comment or reach out via social media to tell me what you think and how I might improve. By no means am I an expert, and proper critique can sharpen my skills.
*Participate in streams. Don’t be a lurker, feel free to interact!
*Recommend. If you ever seen writing opportunities in the field, please send them my way and/or let me know!
*Donate if you can. Again, by no means should anyone feel obligated. In fact, the tip jar link is not in this post. But imagine me as a street performer. If you’re digging my tune, a few quarters go a long way.
Well, this has been fun…
And I’ve kept you long enough. Thank you again for stopping by, and please, stay tuned for more!
