inspired by an ai startup using satellite imagery to spot wildfires faster.
it seems that a lot of predicaments we find ourselves in are a result of “modern” humans’ hubris.
we can prevent forest fires, therefore we should. it does not matter what prior methods worked since because we know more in some areas now we must know more in all areas. after all, we are more advanced, aren’t we?
this approach of controlling nature has not led to forest of kindling in a time of environmental instability.
blazes awaiting a spark in a time of easily triggered sparks.
almost seems like a metaphor for something…
