Notes from the threshold

It’s been a while! This season has been full of transitions. I’ve camped, swam in rivers and lakes (one is on the flyer), moved (in the neighborhood), sat in a cafe behind Malcolm Gladwell (accidentally), and started grad school since I last emailed. I’m writing because Lola and I are throwing a dance party next Friday, the fourth in our recurring series, and would love for you to join us for a final outdoor dance of the season. Police shut down one of our parties last summer– as if cops could stop us from dancing! We’re so back; the location is here and just ask if you have any questions about finding it: 39.941113, -75.203913
I’m spinning once more for Freedom Side School at Pentridge Station tomorrow at 5pm. Expect house, jazz fusion, good grooves and better people.
I contributed a saxophone improvisation to the b-side of Eli’s new record. I’m really excited about this album as well as the genesis of El Gallo de Oro– and it’s my first time on vinyl! If you’re in Philly and want to purchase a CD, I can bring it right to you and save you the cost of shipping.
I’ve been writing a fair amount but it’s mostly been for myself. I’ll be leading Yom Kippur services at Mending Minyan in a month and will have lots more thoughts and prayers to share then. I hope you’ll join me if you’re close to New Haven. We have much to atone for, and there is so much liberation work to be done.
