You Can Make It To The End: Song of the Week
"i/o" and "Olive Tree" by Peter Gabriel (Dark-Side Mixes)

I bought Peter Gabriel's quadruple-album set i/o a few weeks ago because I'm a sucker for high-concept stuff and most everything he releases. The albums include a Bright and Dark-side mix of the same 12 songs. I have yet to listen to it in such detail that the difference in mixes is discernible, but I happened to be listening to the dark-side mix of these two songs when I figured I'd make some artwork inspired by the album and include the tracks for the song(s) of the week.
The main newsletter entry will feature some ramblings about Peter Gabriel and Brian Eno (frequent collaborators), I think some discussion of Bon Iver's album i,i and maybe even this newer artist I just learned about, Clarissa Connelly. I'm really impressed by any artist that proves they're a good collaborator when it comes to mixed media or unconventional music delivery systems: Peter Gabriel with his elevation of visual work (i.e. the i/o liner notes); Brian Eno with his user experience sound design; and Justin Vernon's use of aural and visual collage.
If you want to continue the discussion, send me an email or put it through the snail mail
