sunlit threshold

sunlit threshold

A close up shot of a patch of birdsfoot trefoil in late afternoon spring sunlight

Afraid I've still not figured out a build pipeline on my linux laptop yet, so there's still no download this month, just some links of things that interested me.

Oh, actually, I don't think I've posted the ambient music videos I've been uploading to youtube here. Here's the most recent three:

  • watchful
  • from every sunlit pool
  • dappled sun, late spring afternoon

"What if the exhaustion everybody feels isn't a moral failure but the completely rational response to being made responsible for an ecosystem of objects that never stop asking?"

Razor1911 with an incredible demo celebrating their 40 years(!) on the scene. That's the youtube link; here's the pouet download.

"I think it is fucking awful to have an industry that claims to sell the notion of of "intelligence" as utility, like water"

Oma Keeling with a beautiful piece of writing on their time working as a pirate ship operator.

I saw Everybody to Kenmure Street at the DCA this month and 1.) it made me homesick for Glasgow, 2.) I loved how it integrated the story of that day with Glasgow's long history of resistance, explaining why and how people were able to prevent the home office taking those two men that day, and 3.) I think this might be the first time I've been to the cinema when everybody has burst into applause at the end of the film. That's a powerful thing. If you get the chance to see it in a cinema you should take it.

"Who can imagine another world unless they already have been broken apart by the world we are in?"

Daniela Gutiérrez Flores writing about her friendship with Alexandra Bellow, patiently reading Don Quixote 3 pages a week.

I imagine everyone in the world has already seen Angine de Poitrine's KEXP performance, but wow. I'm not usually one for math rock, but it turns out all it takes to get me on board is to dress up with papier mache masks and a flair for the theatrical and I'm all in.

A moog subharmonicon jam that is 1.) a bop, and 2.) the most intricate use of that synth I've seen to date. I need to take notes.

An old essay by PsySal about Ultima VI that is just a really fascinating deep dive into the game's design. I also really like the links page on their Kitty Lambda site.

That's it from me this month. I have a busy month of marking ahead of me, so I don't know how much progress I'll have made toward my linux goals for next month, but I hope you have a quieter month than I do. Take care and look out for each other.
