Another hiatus month, I'm afraid. And (CW: bird murder) I have bad news about the blackbirds nesting outside my kitchen window: their eggs hatched, and their children seemed to be doing well, but the local magpies noticed them too, and murdered all the kids.
Which marks the second time this year those magpies have murdered a family of blackbird children in my garden. So. I have decided magpies are now my enemies.
Fever Ray's released a remix of I'm Not Done with an excellent music video.
Jaime Brooks: This Is What You'll Pay For. Mainly for this part:
"Records are the means through which I reached out into the void and asked if there was anyone out there who understood what I was going through."
Which is true for me, but I think even more true when it came to making games. So much of my life today is the result of me making games and reaching out/throwing them out into the void of the internet, and meeting people and making connections as a result. The venues I did that through don't really exist anymore, and I'm not sure what's taken their place. Hopefully people are still finding those communities.
Sorry it's such a short and sad one this month. I hope wherever you are the blackbirds are healthy and happy, and the magpies are having a miserable time. And I hope you're doing good despite, well, everything. I'll write again next month, hopefully with happier news and more to share.
