Hi everyone! I have some exciting news. In late February, The Valkyrie is going to be the book for the All In A Day Book Club on CBC Radio here in Ottawa!
This feature highlights local authors. The host Alan Neal encourages listeners to read one book together for a month, and then he meets with listeners and the author in a special location in Ottawa, where we all talk about the book.
(People join both in person and virtually via Zoom.)
It's then recorded and broadcast on All In A Day (which is the afternoon radio show on CBC Radio One, heard 3-6 p.m. ET on 91.5 FM).
I couldn't be more thrilled. Alan Neal is one of my favourite interviewers; you can listen to a conversation the two of us had about The Valkyrie a few months ago here.
The Book Club has been a big hit with All In A Day listeners and audiences... and once the location and date is announced there is, I'm told, always a fierce battle for tickets.
(Tickets are free, but there are only so many in-person seats.)
To find out the where and when, people usually sign up for the Book Club mailing list by sending a note to bookclub@cbc.ca.
Then you're among the first to know when the location's revealed and tickets are available.
Hope to see you there!

A few other things to note:
If you missed my online conversation today with Phoenicia Rogerson (author of Herc) and moderator Tabassum Siddiqui, hosted by the Toronto Public Library, you can watch the replay any time here. I really enjoyed talking about retellings and historical fiction, and someone actually asked me (unprompted, I swear) about my playlist! Longtime readers of this newsletter will know how thrilled that made me.
In other event news, the ALSO banned books fundraiser here in Ottawa has been postponed to April 12, with a new location and a more affordable ticket price.
More news to share coming soon!
