I’m hitting the road! If you’re in southern or eastern Ontario, and you can come out to an event, I’d love to see you. Most of these events are ticketed, even the free ones, so if you’d like to come, please do register. And there is at least one event that’s streaming online, so even if you’re not in Ontario, you can check that one out.

Going on tour (even a small local one like this) with publisher support is pretty rare these days for midlist authors like me. I’m very appreciative that HarperCollins Canada is footing some of the bill, and some events and festivals that have booked me are pitching in for travel costs as well, and some pay honoraria and/or per diems.

I’m looking forward to talking with readers and booksellers and my co-panelists. Thanks so much to the booksellers and libraries who support these events, as well.

• The inaugural Smiths Falls Literary Festival. I’ll be on the fantasy panel with Amanda Connolly, Anuja Varghese, Elle Wither and moderator Ted Outerbridge, on Sunday, Sept. 20 at 1 p.m. Ticketed.

• The legendary Stratford Festival holds discussions and workshops as part of the Meighan Forum. I’m on a panel called Do You Believe in Fairies?, along with scholar Chet Scoville and actor Laura Condlin, at 10:30 am on Thursday Sept. 24. Ticketed.

• The Lincoln Pelham Public Library has invited me to their branch in Vineland (near St Catharines) for a conversation and signing. Free, drop-ins welcome, registration encouraged.

• I’ll be at the wonderful Word on the Street festival (my second time there) on Saturday, Sept. 26. The panel is Reclaiming Old Stories, with Joanne Merriam (whose book I’ve read; it’s great) and Bar Fridman-Tell (whose book sounds amazing). 2:30 p.m. If you are in Toronto the following day, check out the panel with my friend Suyi Davies Okungbowa. Free to attend.

• The Kingston WritersFest has invited me for a panel on dark fantasy with Amanda Connolly, moderated by Alice Robinette-Woods, at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday Oct. 1. Ticketed.

• And Amanda and I will team up the following night, along with the wonderful Eden Robinson, for an event hosted by the Ottawa International Writers Festival on Friday Oct. 2 at 7 p.m. Ticketed; different prices for in person or streaming online. Tickets go on sale Sept. 1 but you can sign up now to be notifed when they’re on sale.
